We awakened refreshed and ready to start off.
After breakfast, we took a couple of pictures on the porch, said
good-bye to the cat, and were on our way.
 Before
leaving Walla Walla, we stopped in at the Canoe Ridge Winery to sample
some Merlot. Then, it was back on the highway.
Most of the day we spend driving across the rest of
Washington, through Idaho, and into Montana. We won't bore you
with all the details, but we'll share some of the moments.
  |
A few of the cars we were trapped behind on highway
12. |
| Pictures of our feet from when we got really bored. |
  |
  |
Food and drink that sustained us. |
| One of many signs along the Lewis and Clark trail. |
 |
Believe it or not, there are many more
pictures from that drive. One of the big cons of a digital camera
is that you can take pictures and never waste film. But we got to
an interesting stop, the Jerry Johnson Hot Springs, just on the
Idaho/Montana border.
Finally, we reached Montana, and our hotel
at the scenic Fort Lolo Hot Springs. Kira couldn't wait to get
there and relax with a hot bath and a great meal.
However, to our dismay, the lodgings at Fort
Lolo made Woodward Canyon look good. We pulled in, checked out the
room, and in literally 10 minutes we had left. Here's a play by
play...
| We arrive at Fort Lolo, tired, excited,
and ready for a hot bath and a great meal. |
|
  |
We quickly realize that the hot springs and resort
have been oversold in the brochure. |
| We get into the room and call the
Holiday Inn in Missoula. They can take us. |
 |
|
10 minutes later we are back in the car and on the
road. |
| Finally, 16 hours after we left Walla
Walla, we check in to the Missoula Holiday Inn. |
